Burn Ban Upgraded to Stage 2

Effective Today at 12:00 PM 

A ban on the use of any wood burning stove, fireplace, fireplace insert or pellet stove is prohibited unless it is the only adequate means of heating a home. All outdoor burning is also prohibited. The restriction begins at 12:00 pm today December 4, 2017, in all of Yakima County* until further notice.

 Yakima Regional Clean Air is issuing the Stage 2 burn ban due to forecasted weather conditions that will be contributing to a build-up of air pollutants. YRCAA urges everyone not to burn unless it is the only adequate heat source of heat.   

 Under a Stage 2 burn ban:

  • The use of any wood burning stove, fireplace, fireplace inserts, pellet stove and other solid fuel burning devices is prohibited. Unless the devise is the only source of adequate heat within the home or business.
  • All outdoor burning is prohibited throughout Yakima County*.
  • All violations of the burn ban are subject to civil penalty.

This burn ban may be downgraded or removed depending on air quality and weather conditions. Please check our website for the latest information, www.yakimacleanair.orgÂ

Stage One Burn Ban called for Yakima County

Thursday November 30, 2017

Burn Restriction Issued

Stage 1- Burn Ban

Effective Today at 11:00 AM

 

A ban on the use of uncertified wood stoves, inserts and fireplaces begins at 11:00 am today November 30, 2017, in all of Yakima County* until further notice.

 

The Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency is issuing this Stage 1 burn ban due to weather conditions that are contributing to a build-up of air pollutants.

 

Under a Stage 1 burn ban:

 

  • The use of uncertified wood stoves, fireplaces, inserts and other uncertified solid fuel burning devices is prohibited.
  • The use of certified wood stoves, pellet stoves and other certified wood-burning devices is allowed.
  • All outdoor burning is prohibited throughout Yakima County*.
  • All violations of the burn ban are subject to civil penalty.

 

This temporary restriction is due to the buildup of air pollution and stagnant weather conditions. This burn ban may be upgraded or removed depending on air quality and weather conditions; please check our website for the latest information, www.yakimacleanair.orgÂ

Under a Stage 1 burn ban:

 

The use of uncertified wood stoves, fireplaces, inserts and other uncertified solid fuel burning devices is prohibited.

The use of certified wood stoves, pellet stoves and other certified wood-burning devices is allowed.
