YRCAA Upgrades Burn Ban to Stage 2

Effective 2:30 PM,  PST today, Monday, December 05, 2011.

The Stage 1 Burn Ban recently declared for Upper and Lower Yakima County has now been upgraded to a Stage 2 Burn Ban.

  •  Agricultural Burn allocation: are 0 piles per request for Upper Yakima County and 0 for the Lower Yakima County areas today.
  • Monitor value for Yakima, Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (Orange);
  • Monitor value for Toppenish, Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (Orange);
  • Ventilation is POOR; Dispersion is POOR,with an upper level inversion lasting all day and windspeeds light and variable today and tonight (less than 5 mph).
  •  The NWS Air Stagnation Advisory is posted to last through today but will likely be extended into tomorrow.
  • An upgrade from Stage 1 to Stage 2 Burn Ban is necessary to prevent worsening air quality conditions. 
  • We will continue to evaluate the burn ban status
