SUBJECT:    STAGE 1 BURN BAN FOR UPPER & LOWER YAKIMA COUNTY IS REMOVED

 The Burns Ban effecting both Upper and Lower Yakima County are REMOVED effective 3:30 P.M. today, Friday, December 10, 2010.

Conditions have improved, at least temporarily, and should remain so at least into Monday, December 13th.

 YRCAA wishes to extend congratulations and thanks to all persons, families and businesses who, through understanding and cooperation helped us achieve an earlier end to this curtailment than we anticipated.

        Reminder:

No Residential Outdoor Burning is allowed from October 15th through March 14th.

 Please Note: As with all notices, the jurisdiction of YRCAA is within all of Yakima County excluding Yakama Nation Reservation lands.  YRCAA recognizes Yakama National Sovereignty, whose air program is addressing air quality issues in conjunction with the EPA, under the Federal Air Rules for Reservations (FARR).  AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION: Please Note – Limited Agricultural Burn Allocations will be authorized for the time being.

Ventilations and dispersions are Poor to Poor Today. 

Saturday:

  • Upper Yakima County Burn allocations are 2  piles per request, and
  • Lower Yakima County Burn allocations are 4 piles per request

Sunday

  •  4 piles per request for both the Lower and the Upper Yakima County areas.

REMEMBER:

To receive Authorization and an Allocation for Agricultural Burning you must:

1.  Have a current Agricultural Burn Permit on file with YRCAA, and:

2.  Must call YRCAA in the afternoon prior to the day you wish to burn for confirmation of an allocation to burn, IF you wish to burn as early as permitted on the day you wish to burn (30 minutes after sunrise).

You may not initiate burning until such confirmation has been determined by YRCAA, and an allocation issued prior to the day of burning.
