Yakima County Burn Ban to Continue thru Weekend

UPDATE:

YAKIMA COUNTY STAGE 2 BURN BAN TO REMAIN THROUGH THE WEEKEND, extending at least until MONDAY 10 a.m., at which time status will be reviewed. 

Note: No Outdoor Residential Burning is allowed between October 15th and March 14th each year.

Ventilation and dispersion conditions are classified as Poor today and for the next three days due to increasing stagnant air conditions and inversions in BOTH the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas.  This projection will be reviewed again at 3:00 p.m. today.

During a Stage 2 Burn Ban:
  1. All Outdoor Burning, including Agricultural burning, is prohibited;
  2. The use of any solid-fuel burning fireplace, stove or fireplace insert (including certified devices) is prohibited unless it is the only adequate means of heating a home;

Note: The most commonly used “solid fuels” are wood, manufactured logs, pellets and coal.

  1. No excessive smoke is allowed from any wood burning device beyond a 20-minute start-up; and
  2. All violations of the burn ban are subject to civil penalty.

 

  Agricultural:  No Burn Allocations issued today

  • Burn allocations are 0  piles per request for Upper and 0 piles for the Lower Yakima County for today.
  • Allocation is Level 4, that is, zero piles for both the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas.
  • This information for Agricultural Burning Allocations for the weekend will be reviewed and updated at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon

 

YRCAA staff will continue to monitor the situation to determine if and when the burn ban can be lifted.
