Yakima County Burn Ban Removed

August 9, 2010

By order of the Air Pollution Control Officer, the current Stage 1 Burn Ban HAS BEEN REMOVED effective 10:00 A.M. today, Monday, August 09, 2010 for Yakima County.  Yakima County has received enough ventilation to disperse the wildfire smoke which plagued our valley last week.

YRCAA wishes to extend congratulations and thanks to all persons, families and businesses who, through understanding and cooperation helped us achieve an end to this period of curtailment.  “We can’t do it without your assistance.”

Reminder:  Residential Outdoor Burning is allowed only from March 14th through October 15th, and with a permit.

Please Note: This applies to all areas of Yakima County except for Yakama Indian Reservation lands, which are overseen by the Environmental Protection Agency, and fall under the Federal Air Rules for Reservations (FARR) regulations.   For more information, visit their Federal Air Rules for Reservations (FARR) website at www.epa.gov/r10earth/FARR.htm .

AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION: Please Note – Agricultural Burn Permit holders are required to request and receive verbal, daily burn Allocations (Authorization) from the Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency prior to initiating any burn activity.

We make every effort to ensure that all burn ban announcements and restrictions are posted. Always call or visit your county and local clean air agency and check the DNR fire danger for the most current information.
