Effective 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22,2011, a Stage 1 Woodstove Curtailment has been called for Clark County. This Burn Ban will be in effect until further notice. All outdoor burning, as well as burning in uncertified woodstoves and fireplaces is prohibited. For more information you may go to the Southwest Clean Air Agency’s website at www.swcleanair.org.
We make every effort to ensure that all burn ban announcements and restrictions are posted. Always call or visit your county and local clean air agency and check the DNR fire danger for the most current information.

A burn ban for fireplaces and woodstoves at the coldest time is unnecessary – why not an alert on driving during this time also….I have not seen any requests of that nature. Are there restrictions in place for businesses that vent into the outdoors also..I see nothing about that in the ban announcement? There are many people who rely on being able to burn in woodstoves and fireplaces to augment the need for and high cost of electric heat. I have to ask….is there something in it for the PUD? I understand the outdoor burning ban – that is not a necessary thing at this time of year but banning a heat source in the Winter months for the few that need it is insensitive and cruel.
