			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As of Monday, Aug. 8th at 8:00 a.m., open burning and unauthorized recreational fires are restricted in Island, Skagit and Whatcom counties until further notice. County fire officials have called a burn ban due to dry weather conditions.  <a href="http://www.nwcleanair.org">Click here for additional information.</a> If residing within the city limits of any of the incorporated cities or towns, contact your city fire department for current burning restrictions.<br />
Residential yard debris and land-clearing burning remains permanently banned in the following cities &amp; urban growth areas:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Island County: </strong> Coupeville, Freeland, Langley, Oak Harbor</li>
<li><strong>Skagit County:</strong>  Anacortes, Burlington, Conrete, Hamilton, La Conner, Lyman, Bay View, March&#8217;s Point, Sedro-Woolley</li>
<li><strong>Whatcom County:</strong> Bellingham, Blaine, Everson, Ferndale, Lynden, Nooksack, Sumas, Birch Bay, Cherry Point, Columbia Valley</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Fire danger level has been raised to <strong>HIGH</strong> in <strong>Whatcom, Skagit, and Island Counties</strong>.  Beginning <strong>Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 8:00 am</strong>,  recreational burning will ONLY be allowed in approved campgrounds with approved fire enclosures and a campground host or warden on duty.  All recreational fires must be extinguished by 10:00 pm.  Call your local fire department for additional information.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Skagit County burn ban beginning 1 July 2009]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This burn ban will go into effect <strong>Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 8:00 AM.</strong> It is limited to all fires except for recreational fires. Recreational fires are less than 3 feet in diameter and 2 feet high and are for cooking and pleasure only. Recreational fires must be contained within a fire pit that has been cleared of all combustible material within a 10 foot radius, must be monitored at all times and must have a water source readily available (at a minimum, a charged water hose or a 5 gallon bucket of water).</p>

This modified burn ban will be in effect until further notice. You may obtain updated County burn restriction information by calling the Skagit County Fire Warden at (360)428-3293.</p>
